Appledore's boarding boat BB-502 launched to a report of a person cut off by the tide on a sandbank. When the boarding boat crew finally managed to find the casualty, (they were in fact on a sandbank and their dinghy was hidden by the height of same), and ascertained that all was well, the crew returned to station. False alarm with good intent.

Launched to a possible person in the water at Old Walls, as the person was reported as trying to recover his boat yet was not answering his mobile. The ILB found the owner safe and well near his vessel Onshore. The Lifeboat recovered him from the beach and landed him at the station.

Launched to a report of a fishing vessel adrift in the river. Once on scene the ILB located a 28ft angling boat dragging its moorings. The ILB took the vessel in tow and placed it on RNLI Moorings.

Boarding boat BB-502 aunched to a kite-surfer in difficulties approximately 600 yrds from the station. Kite boarder and gear, along with the kite-surfer's father who swam out to help her, were landed safely ashore.

Launched to a surfer in difficulties off of Down End. Just as the ILB launched the surfer was recovered by the Helicopter so the boat was stood down.

Launched to a 38ft yacht with a fouled propeller 5 nautical miles SW of Hartland Point. The casualty had light winds and could barely make headway. The vessel was then taken in tow to Appledore where it could dry out and the owner free his propeller.

Launched to a Jet-ski on a sandbank off Newquay Ridge near the Shipyard. The casualty was pushed back into the water - assisted by the lifeboat crew and escorted back to Churchfields carpark slipway.

Request to assist police - to a female on the Taw Bridge at Barnstaple. Five minutes after the boat launched, the female was coaxed down off the bridge to waiting police officers and the lifeboat stood down.

BB-502 launched to a 13ft motorboat broken down between The Pulleys and Old Walls, the boarding boat gave assistance due to low tide and towed the vessel to Churchfield's carpark.

Both lifeboats launched to assist a 6.5 mtr Rib with 9 persons on board, (POBs), broken down off the Bideford Bar area. When Flare was sighted they were in fact in the estuary off of Instow. The ILB towed the vessel to Churchfield's carpark slip and the ALB returned to station.

Appledore's Inshore lifeboat launched following a request from the Beach Lifeguards to two surfers possibly in difficulties off Bideford Bar. When the ILB arrived on scene, the surfers told the crew they did not require any assistance. The surfers made their own way ashore and the ILB returned to station. A false alarm but with good intent.

Both boats launched to a possible male who apparently jumped for the Taw Bridge at Barnstaple. Both boats searched from the New Bridge up as far as the old Railway Bridge - approximately 1.5 nautical miles up stream of the Taw Bridge. After a Keyhole search and nothing found all units were stood down.

The Atlantic 75 launched to a swamped boat adrift off Instow. No-one onboard so vessel was towed to Instow beach and handed over to Coastguards.

Appledore's ILB was launched to a female windsurfer in difficulties approx 1/4nm NE of the station. The casualty was recovered from the water along with her rig, and taken back to Instow Beach.

Launched to a report of 2 males seen entering the water at Croyde beach,and have not been seen leaving the water,just as all the emergency services arrived in the area.The 2 males were found safe and well on shore.

Launched to a broken down fishing boat in the estuary,casualty towed back to the RNLI Relief mooring,then escorted back to its berth after repairs were made on the next tide.

ILB Launched to a capsized Yacht off of Appledore Quay with 1 person on board, (pob). The ILB took the casualty onboard and towed his yacht to Churchfield carpark slipway. The lifeboat crew righted his boat and then returned to station.

ILB requested to launch to a report of 2 children trapped on scaffolding on the old Bideford Bridge, Just as the Lifeboat was launching, it was confirmed that the children had managed to climb off the scaffolding to safety and the boat stood down.
ILB requested to launch to a report of a person in the water off Instow Beach. When the ILB arrived on scene they found a male in the water,The casualty had fallen out of his dinghy some 20 minutes earlier. The casualty was recovered from the water and taken ashore to waiting paramedics, who then took the casualty to hospital for a check up.

Whilist out checking Depths of water in the River,the Boarding Boat was tasked to check out a jet ski aground on the south tail,the Bike was well aground with 1 pob,the casualty was taken off the sand bank by the boarding boat, and his bike left to the next tide. where it was recovered by the boarding boat.

Whilist the boarding boat had just finishing from the jet-ski incident,the boat was diveretd to assist in a search for a missing male,the boarding boat searched an area of the river before it was stood down as the casualty had been found safe and well on shore.

The ILB launched to search for a 15 yr old surfer last seen in the water some 200 yrds off Saunton Sands hotel. Whilst the ILB started its search, the 15 year-old was found on the beach safe and well. The ILB was then released to return to station.

Appledore's ILB was launched to a male in the water at Bideford. Just as the lifeboat arrived on scene,the casualty was safely out of the water and taken into Police custody once he was checked over by paramedics.

All Appledore RNLI's boats were tasked to help with a search of 2 possibly missing females, to search the area start from Downend to Barnstaple,including Bideford, Instow and Braunton. One casualty was accounted for and found safe and well. As for the other, the search is ongoing - from onshore. All units stood down by 2100 to return to station.

Swansea Coastguard requested the launch of the ILB to a male trapped on his yacht after his tender sank alongside his yacht - spilling out his paddles and engine.The Lifeboat recoverd him and landed him ashore.

Swansea CG requested the launch of ILB to a speedboat which had broken down and was drifting between Fremington Quay and Chivenor. When ILB arrived on scene the casualty was near Yelland Power Station and aground on a sandbank. The crew secured a tow and towed the vessel clear of the sandbank and into deeper water and then to Churchfields carpark for recovery.

ILB launched to assist a motor boat with engine failure near Hartland Point. Clovelly Lifeboat had the asualty in tow and were proceeding to Appledore. ILB took over the tow and towed the vessel to her moorings at Bideford.

Whilst the ALB and ILB were on a service Swansea CG received a 999 call from a small yacht who was dragging its anchor and had a fouled propellor. As there was no crew available to Boarding Boat launched and started to tow the vessel to its moorings at Instow, when the ILB had finished its service they took over the tow.

ILB launched following a report of a RIB floating down the river Torridge with its engine still running, and no-one onboard. With fear of having a man overboard the ILB conducted a search of the river, with the rescue helicopter attending another incident the ALB was also launched to help search the area. When the ILB towed the vessel to Appledore quay the owner had been found, saying that he had tied the boat up and gone to the shop! All units were then stood down and returned to station

ILB launched following a report of 2 canoeists in trouble off of Downend, when the ILB arrived on scene the people were found to be safe and well, and did not require assistance. The ILB then returned to station. A false call with good intent

ILB launched to a drifting yacht near Appledore Shipyard, by the time the ILB arrived on scene the yacht had drifted further up river to Limers Lane. Yacht was towed back to Appledore Pool and placed on Lifeboat reserve mooring for owner to collect.

Whilst the ILB was on service it was noticed that a canoe in swamped condition was floating past the station. Boarding boat was launched to investigate, and when the water was drained from the canoe Swansea CG were notified that they were going to do a quick search of the river. The casualty that the ILB was towing at the time called to say that the canoe belonged to one of the people onboard their vessel and that it had come adrift and drifted into the river. Once this was confirmed the boarding boat returned to station.

ILB launched following a 999 call from a vessel with 4 POB in the South Tail area with engine failure. ILB took the casualty in tow back to its moorings at Bideford.

Swansea CG requested the launch of ILB following a 999 call from a small vessel with 3 POB which had broken down near Airy Point. ONce the ILB was on scene the vessel was taken in tow back to its mooringsd at Instow

Swansea CG requested the launch of ALB to the fishing vessel Pacemaker with a fouled propellor 21 miles North of Hartland Point. Once on scene the ALB passed a tow rope, due to the state of tide, the coxswain decided to tow the vessel to Ilfracombe rather than Appledore. It was also decided to launch Ilfracombe Lifeboat to assist towing the vessel into Ilfracombe harbour due the the swell running at the time. Once the vessel was safely alongside the ALB returned to Appledore and was ready for service at 2115hrs.

An Appledore lifeboat crew member spotted a windsurfer in difficulties near the lifeboat station and alerted the coastguard. The ILB launched and picked up the casualty, who had suffered rigging failure, and was drifting out on the ebbing tide. The ILB landed the casualty back on Instow Beach to waitng coastguards.

Whilst on exercise in Croyde Bay, the crew of the ILB were approached by surfers as one of their group had susstained a blow to the head. The ILB crew reported the incident to Swansea CG who called for Croyde CRT and paramedics. The ILB stood offshore on the surf-line and relayed the message to the surfers that assistance was on its way. Once the Coastguards arrived on scene the ILB continued with its exercise.

The ILB was launched to a vessel adrift between Appledore and Instow. As the ILB was launching it became apparent that the owner had tried tro swim out to his vessel and was in difficulty. The ILB arrived on scene and pulled the man from the water, once it was confirmed that he was fit and well, the ILB recovered his boat and towed it to a nearby mooring.
The owner was landed ashore near his car and clothing and handed over to waiting coastguards. The ILB then returned to station.

Appledore's ILB launched following a 999 call from the owner of a vessel which was dragging its anchor down the taw/torridge estuary, leaving him stranded. As the ILB was launching the coxswain spotted the vessel apporximately 0.5nm from the station. The ILB launched to the vessel, placed a crewmember onboard and towed the vessel back to its owner at Crow Point.

Swansea CG requested the launch of ILB following a 999 call from a small dory with 2 persons onboard, aground in surf off of Airy Point. The vessel had tried to come over the bar early and outside the main channel, the vseel had hit a sandbank and theengine stalled. Once aground and in broken water the vessel took a couple of waves aboard and filled with water, the persons onboard the vessel could not start the main or auxilliary engines so called for help.
The ILB manouvered in the shallows and put one crewmember in the water to board the vessel with a tow rope.
The boardingboat was also launch to assist from shore side but was not needed. Once the tow was secured the vessel was towed from the surf and into deep water, then back to Appledore, Churchfields carpark for recovery.

Swansea CG requested the launch of the ILB following a report of 2 children being carried away by the wind/tide near Instow beach in a small inflatable. When the ILB arrived on scene the children had managed to get ashore, but left the inflatable on the tide line, the crew recovered the dinghy back to station where it was destroyed. The children had quickly disappeared when the Lifeboat arrived.

Appledore's All-waether lifeboat was on exercise when she came across a small power boat which appeared to be in difficulty. The vessel had a rope caught around its prop. The ALB stood by whilst rope was freed and escorted the vessel into the river to ensure all was well. Once this was established the ALB was refueled and made ready for service.

As the crew were preparing to launch they were stood down, as the person in the water was in fact a male in a drysuit, deploying anchors from his boat and was not in need in assistance. Swansea CG requested launch of ILB to an angling boat approx 1.5nm NNW of station, when lifeboat arrived on scene they found a 16ft speedboat with 2 persons on board with engine failure, ILB took the vessel in tow to Churchfields slipway and passed over to waiting coastguards.

ILB launched following a report of a jet-ski between Instow and Appledore waving for help. When ILB arrived on scene the jet-ski was under tow by another another vessel, ILB escorted both vessels to Churchfields slipway, once it was certain all was well the ILB returned to station.

Swansea CG requested launch of ALB to assist with a search and provide additional lighting for 1 person in the water at Morwenstow after the helicopter had winched one to safety, after searching for 4 hours without result the lifeboat was stood down and anchored in Clovelly to await the incoming tide, arriving back at station at 0700hrs the following morning.

Swansea CG requested the launch of ALB to 3 surfers in trouble at Barricane beach, Woolacombe. ILB was also launched to assist. Whilst both boats were en-route the Coastguard confirmed that Rescue Helicopter 169 from Chivenor had managed to winch the 3 surfers to safety. Both boats were then stood down and returned to station.

Once on scene they found a vessel at anchor with 4 persons on board fishing. Once police had all the details and had made sure all was well they returned to station. A false call with good intent.

Swansea CG requested the launch of Appledore Boarding Boat to a female in the water near Bideford Old Bridge. When the lifeboat arrived on scene, 2 police officers had managed to find a small inflatable and paddled out to the woman to keep her afloat until the lifeboat arrived. The asualty was taken in the boarding boat and handed over to waiting paramedics on the shore.

ILB was launched following a report of a potential suicide threat on Torridge Bridge. Once the boat was on scene the police persuaded the person down from the bridge and was taken into police custody. The ILB then returned to station.

Boarding boat was launched following a request from Swansea CG after a report of 2 persons in a Rowing Skiff who had become pinned against the higher side of Bideford Old Bridge by the tide. Two police men on patrol were trying to help the men by pulling the bow of the boat round but to no avail. When the boarding boat had gone through the arch of the bridge, the wash created was enough to dislodge the vessel. The boarding boat took the rope from the police and assisted the vessel, before escorting it back to Bideford Quay.

The ILB was requested to launch to investigate a rowing boat off Bideford Quay - it was not known if occupants were drunk or thieves. Police requested to be taken on board the ILB to casualties.
The ILB was launched with 3 crew and 2 police officers onboard. It located the boat and 4 youths near Bideford New Bridge - 1 youth was in the water, and another had been in the water. All 4 taken to Bideford Quay and handed over to police and ambulance crew. Boat was retrieved and returned to Pilot boat.

Swansea CG requested launch of ILB to a small fishing boat near to crow point, when the ILB arrived on scene it was found to be a small yacht in very bad condition. The helm was advised by the coxswain to tow the vessel to a mooring behind crow point. This was agreed by the Coastguard, once done the ILB returned to station.

Swansea CG requested the launch of Appledore ILB following a report of 2 people in the water near to Bideford Old Bridge. One person had been rescued by a police officer, when the ILB arrived on scene they quickly spotted the one remaining casualty who was taken onboard the boat and transferred immediately to the shore and handed over to waiting paramedics.
During this time the ALB was preparing to launch but was stood down as they were leaving the moorings.
